The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
